Not many Cubs fans, I would say, had heard of Michael Busch when the Cubs traded for him (and Yency Almonte) back in January. This was true even though Busch had been a first-round pick of the Dodgers (31st overall) back in 2019 (Cubs could have had Busch back then, too, they selected the now-departed Ryan Jensen four spots earlier).
This could wind up as one of the better deals in Cubs history. Busch homered Sunday afternoon, for the fourth straight afternoon, helping lead the Cubs to a 3-2 victory over the Mariners in Seattle. The Cubs thus won their first road series this year and evened up their record on the road trip at 3-3.
