The first two articles of our review of the Cubs 2019 season focused on the pitching: The relatively strong starting staff and then the decidedly weak bullpen. Entering the season the Cubs infield appeared to be the strength of the team. The first four months of season that was very much the case, but key injuries late in the year changed that and proved very costly to Chicago’s playoff hopes.
The 2019 Cubs infield boasted four all-star and even potentially MVP worthy players; Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras, Javy Báez, and Anthony Rizzo.
