Ryan Kalish knows a thing or two about comebacks. Once a highly rated prospect in the Boston Red Sox system, Kalish has fought through multiple injuries to get back to the majors. In Saturday’s 8-5 victory over the Washington Nationals, the Cubs battled back from two deficits with Kalish playing a key role.
Kalish missed the entire 2013 season after a spinal fusion surgery that many believed would end his playing career. The persistent outfielder surprised many when he returned the next season, spending 2014 in the Cubs organization. Then after being released following that year, he missed all of 2015 with multiple knee surgeries.
