The Cubs began a first-place showdown against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night at Miller Park. Starter Jose Quintana looked good for most of the game, but the Brewers held a narrow lead into the late innings. Chicago was able to rally against a daunting Milwaukee bullpen to tie the score. The game went to extras where the Northsiders broke it open in the 11th inning to move into first place in the NL Central.
The Brew Crew struck first in the bottom of the 3rd inning, when backup catcher Erik Kratz hit a solo shot to right center.
