Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (9/18/24): A’s 5, Cubs 3 – Oakland Rallies Late to Take Series

The Cubs had more bullpen issues against the A’s on Wednesday afternoon as they let another potential win slip away. Oakland scored two runs in both the 7th and 8th innings to take home a 5-3 victory.

Starting pitchers Justin Steele and Brady Basso kept both teams off the board through the first three frames. Steele was limited in his first game back from elbow tendinitis and had to leave in the 3rd after hitting his pitch count. Ethan Roberts took over and surrendered a solo home run in the 4th inning to first baseman Tyler Soderstrom that gave the Athletics a 1-0 edge.
