The Cubs lost a frustrating game to the White Sox at Wrigley Field with a chance to gain ground on their playoff competitors. A lack of offense late in the game and several perfectly-placed hits by the visitors did the North Siders in on Tuesday night.
Kyle Hendricks ran into immediate problems in the opening frame with a walk, a bloop single, and an infield hit to load the bases with one out. The White Sox were only able to score one run on a groundout and the Cubs answered back in the bottom half.
Mike Tauchman drew a leadoff walk and came in to score when Ian Happ took Touki Toussaint deep for a two-run homer to right field that made it 2-1.
