The Cubs and Red Sox began the second half on a night when the weather conditions at Wrigley Field helped the hitters. Unfortunately for Chicago, Boston took far better advantage of the wind blowing out by cracking six homers to bury the home team.
Kyle Hendricks did not have his best stuff and he paid for it early and often. Rafael Devers and Adam Duvall each took The Professor deep in the top of the 2nd to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Devers blasted a second dinger the following frame as the advantage increased to 4-0.
