The Cubs came into the third of four games in this series looking to shake off a bad performance Saturday night against Ryan Weathers and the Padres Sunday afternoon. Chicago’s offense finally came to life and they took home a lopsided victory behind a lineup that made way more sense than many others of late.
Nico Hoerner opened the game with a double and came in to score on a throwing error from third baseman Manny Machado. The Cubs exploded in the 2nd inning to knock Weathers out of the game, highlighted by Yan Gomes and Trey Mancini hitting back-to-back home runs to begin the onslaught.
