Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (4/9/25): Rangers 6, Cubs 2 – Seager Homers Twice as Texas Avoids Sweep

The Chicago Cubs had a chance to sweep the Rangers on a cold, cloudy day at Wrigley Field Wednesday. Unfortunately for Chicago, their offense never got going, and they dropped the final game of the series.

Texas went ahead early when Corey Seager lofted an opposite-field solo homer against starter Shu014dta Imanaga. Tyler Mahle did not allow any Cubs hits until Seiya Suzuki tripled in the bottom of the 4th inning. He came home to score on a single by Michael Busch to even things at 1-1.

Imanaga had a rare bad inning in the 5th when he gave up four runs, beginning with a two-run homer to Jonah Heim.
