The Cubs and Phillies had to wait out about a two-hour rain delay before getting their series underway at Wrigley Field Friday afternoon. When play got going, Chicago kept rolling, grabbing an early advantage and completely shutting down the Philadelphia lineup to win their third consecutive game.
The North Siders struck first against Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the 2nd when Jon Berti hit an RBI double. Nico Hoerner singled home another run in the 3rd to give his squad a 2-0 lead.
Colin Rea was sharp again and kept the Phillies quiet over five frames.
