Over the last handful of years, president of baseball operations Theo Epstein has done an excellent job setting young Chicago Cubs for success. We’ve seen several of them turn into budding stars or even superstars right before our very eyes. As what seemingly felt like the entirety of the system jumping ship to the Show at the same time, Chicago was inescapably left with a barren wasteland of prospects across their Minor League ranks.
That has begun to change, however. While Major League Baseball is a sport that requires serious developmental time for their newest additions and draftees, the draft class from this past summer’s draft is one that feels special and could be on the verge as the next coup de grâce of Cubs baseball.
