I don’t think there would be any dispute that it would apply now, but for a whole different reason. Chris Denorfia hit a deep sacrifice fly to center to score Matt Sczcur to give the Cubs the dramatic 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The bullpen was in top form yesterday, but the Cubs (39-30) got most of their work from Jason Hammel, who was impressive but didn’t figure into the decision.
