With weather conditions mirroring football season more than baseball, some of the most loyal fans in sports stuck it out. For hours, they sat in temperatures with a win chill in the 20s, mixed with wind and rain, as the Chicago Cubs appeared to be headed for another loss.
Instead, in the bottom of the eighth, Chicago hung a nine-spot on Atlanta, capped with a game-tying, bases-loaded double from Javier Baez. Looking back, no one will look back and remember Jose Quintana‘s struggles or the early hole the Cubs dug themselves. They’ll remember a team that willed its way to a much-needed win at home.
