The Cubs today announced that outfielder Joc Pederson has been placed on the 10-day injured list with left wrist tendonitis. The move is retroactive to April 21. To replace Pederson on the roster, the Cubs have recalled infielder Nico Hoerner from the alternate site.
The 29-year-old Pederson was the star of Spring Training for the Cubs this year in Mesa, but he has struggled in the regular season, hitting just .137/.262/.235 with one home run over sixteen games and 61 plate appearances. If he’s been swinging the bat with a sore wrist this entire time, that would help to explain his poor start.
