Chicago Cubs News: David Ross impresses, Jimenez shut down with injury

Chicago Cubs fans breathed a sigh of relief Monday when it was revealed prospect Eloy Jimenez needed only three weeks on the shelf. The team medical staff uncovered a bone bruise in his shoulder, but there were no signs of structural damage.

Jimenez was recently optioned to Minor League camp out of Mesa after spending a good portion of the spring with the big league club. According to Jed Hoyer, who spoke with MLB.com, the outfielder piqued interest during his stay.

“He didn’t just open eyes in batting practice with his power, but he opened some eyes in the game,” Hoyer said.
