The Chicago Cubs tried a leadoff single, double and triple–and still couldn’t score. So they went with the trusty home run to make sure they got on the board. Willson Contreras hit a solo home run in the seventh–on the anniversary of his MLB debut—to tie the game up at 2-2. With Javier Baez on after a single, Albert Almora dropped one into left field for a hit. Baez, who was running on the pitch read the ball well and scored all the way from first for the winning tally.
Wade Davis came in and got the save, although it wasn’t the smoothest he’s had.
