The Chicago Cubs got a quality start from Mike Montgomery who allowed three runs (all unearned), yet the Cubs failed to take advantage of the opportunities they had in the 4-2 loss. The Cubs put 15 runners on base but left most of them there as they went just 2-for-6 with RISP with 11 LOB. A costly error from Addison Russell (who later left the game with shoulder discomfort) cost the Cubs three unearned runs in the first.
The Cubs’ Ian Happ continues to be an integral piece of the offense after it looked like the league had figured him out.
