Jared Young doesn’t need the glitz and glamour that comes with the label of a “top prospect.” The former 15th round selection was a flyer back in 2017, a bat the Chicago Cubs discovered with the idea that he could develop into a decent-enough prospect who one day make it to the big leagues.
Young has seemingly always flown under the radar since his selection based mainly on his draft profile, attending Division II Minot State, Connors State JC and Old Dominion, as well as his overall value. It was a good thing for the Cubs as it allowed them to discover a guy who has posted solid numbers for the better part of four years now.
