The Iowa Cubs were grounded by the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals), 2-1. The loss snapped the I-Cubs eight-game winning streak.
Starter Trevor Clifton pitched well, allowing one run on five hits over six innings. The only run he allowed came on a solo home run by Andrew Knizner. Clifton struck out three and did not walk anyone.
The loss went to Dillon Maples in relief, but the good news is that it wasn’t because he walked a bunch of people. Instead, he gave up a home run to the first batter he faced in the seventh inning.
