Thanks to a barrage of home runs against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon joined an exclusive club: 1,000 managerial wins.
Only 62 other skippers can boast such an impressive total. But of those, Maddon has a ways to go to join the all-time greats. Names old and new adorn the top of the list: Tony LaRussa, Joe Torre and Bobby Cox join the likes of Connie Mack and John McGraw in the top five.
“To the players who have been a part of this, I want to say, ‘Thank you,'” he told MLB.
