The Cubs have just three games left, so all that matters at this point is staying healthy and getting the rotation set up for the regular season. That includes Kyle Hendricks, who is currently slated to pitch again in six days when the Cubs face the Rangers for the second time. Why they have to take a day off after Opening Day in a covered stadium is beyond me, but I don’t make the schedule.
There was a thought that Hendricks might have to flip with Justin Steele after the lefty was struck in the leg by a comebacker in Friday’s game, but all appears to be well.
