Chicago Cubs fall in extras; Ryne Sandberg resigns as Phillies manager

The Chicago Cubs found themselves with a late one-run lead until setup man Pedro Strop entered the game. Strop, who hasn’t been all that terrible as of late, gave up the game-tying pinch-hit home run to Greg Garcia in the eighth inning, allowing the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the comeback with a walk-off win in the 10th inning.
