Anthony Rizzo needed only three words to sum up the Chicago Cubs’ championship run in front of the crowd gathered at Grant Park for the Victory Rally: “It happened, baby”. He was as emotional as an estimated five million people lined up around the city to share in this historic moment.
Fast forward a few months and the Cubs’ first baseman is still delivering Hollywood moments for the franchise, hitting a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth on Banner Night.
Now, players, front office staff and other organization members will receive rings that commemorate the journey of the fans as much as the franchise itself.
