Here is a baseball adage: Team has a late-round draft pick. The team feels weak in terms of overall pitching depth. Team drafts a pitcher. Pitcher becomes a reliever and is never heard from again. Okay, that may be a tad exaggerated. However, sometimes it feels right on point.
Thankfully for the Chicago Cubs, this is not necessarily the case for the future of Blake Whitney and what he hopes to accomplish while growing within the organizational pipeline. As the wind blows, Whitney is a compelling case and a name to keep an eye on in 2020.
