Gold jerseys, championship banners and a much-anticipated a ring ceremony have already been announced for the Chicago Cubs’ first couple games of the year. The team added to that list of festivities before Sunday’s season opener in St. Louis.
The Cubs announced that prior to the banner raising ceremony, Juliana Zobrist, wife of Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist, will sing “God Bless America”. Wayne Messmer will follow, singing the National Anthem for the 33rd year in a row.
Players will then raise the championship banners while members of the Ricketts family throw out ceremonial first pitches.
