The summer of ’98 was famous in the baseball world. Sluggers Mark McGwire of the Cardinals and Sammy Sosa of the Cubs were battling for the single-season home run record, as well as the NL MVP for that year.
The battle was great, and McGwire may have won the home run race, but Sosa led the league in RBI’s with 158, crushed 66 home runs himself, and batted .308 – leading to MVP honors.
It has been far too long since Sammy Sosa has been home at Wrigley, and fans should be given the chance to watch one of the best Cubs players ever.
