WASHINGTON -- Nationals slugger Bryce Harper blasted a go-ahead two-run homer to snap reliever Justin Wilson's scoreless-outings streak at 14 appearances, and the Cubs took a 6-5 loss in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader at Nationals Park.
Chicago, which dropped a 10-3 decision in Game 1, gave back a four-run lead in Game 2. The pair of losses trimmed the Cubs' lead in the National League Central race to 2 1/2 games over the Brewers, their slimmest margin since a win over the Tigers on Aug. 22.
The doubleheader, brought on by Friday's washout, began after a delay of 2 hours, 10 minutes prior to the first pitch in Game 1.
