The friendship between Cubs teammates Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo has resulted in a trendy nickname, a funny commercial and what seemed to be a competition for the National League Most Valuable Player award. But unless Rizzo turns into Sammy Sosa this month (sans Flintstones vitamins), Bryant is going to win the award going away.
As good of a season as Rizzo has had, he’s not in Bryant’s class, at least not this year. Bryant has bested Rizzo in all-encompassing value metrics like wins over replacement(WAR) and weighted runs created (wRC+), as well as simpler points of reference: batting average, home runs, and on-base percentage.
