Kris Bryant is a pretty laid-back guy. But he doesn't seem to take too kindly to reporters or managers questioning his plate discipline.
Over the weekend, Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters he’d diagnosed Bryant’s recent issues at the plate. Maddon pointed to Bryant’s strikeout in a pinch-hit appearance on Friday and his three-strikeout game on Saturday and suggested that the reigning MVP was chasing too many pitches out of the zone.
Prior to Monday’s 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres, I told Bryant that Maddon felt he was chasing.
“I’m not,” Bryant said with a smile, cutting me off mid-sentence.
