Buddy’s Best: Random Facts

I saw this odd Cubs nugget the other day. Did you know the largest crowd in Wrigley Field history is 51,556?

According to tribune.com, it happened July 27, 1930. So how did they fit so many people in the ballpark? Believe it or not (again, according to the Trib’s website), fans were actually allowed to stand in the field of play along the warning track. Hits going into the crowd were ruled ground-rule doubles.

Sounds made up to me, but apparently it’s true…and very strange. Anyway, here are some highlights of your many comments from the last several days.
