CHICAGO -- The weather delayed the Cubs' home opener for one day and the Pirates spoiled the festivities at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. Francisco Cervelli smacked a three-run homer and Starling Marte added a solo shot to power Pittsburgh to an 8-5 victory over Chicago, which did get a spark from Javier Baez, who hit a pair of home runs.
With the win, the Pirates (8-2) are off to their best start since 1992.
Baez connected in the second inning against Ivan Nova and again with one out in the seventh for two of the seven hits off the Pirates' starter, who struck out six over seven innings for the win.
