CHICAGO -- Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant left Tuesday night's game against the Pirates after the fifth inning with an apparent injury.
In the fourth, Bryant was hit by a pitch near his left wrist. He initially remained in the game after being evaluated by manager Joe Maddon and athletic trainer PJ Mainville.
Ian Happ pinch-hit for reliever Dillon Maples in the fifth, and Happ stayed in the game to play third.
Bryant has endured recurring left shoulder fatigue, which sidelined him for the entire month of August.
