MESA, Ariz. -- The Cubs' Javier Baez had to leave Thursday's game in the second inning because of tightness in his left hamstring. He is being evaluated, the team said.
The Cubs had two runners on and nobody out against the Padres' Jordan Lyles when Baez hit a double into the left-center-field gap. Both runs scored, but Baez limped into second base. Manager Joe Maddon went out to talk to Baez, and the infielder came out of the game.
The Cubs have been relatively injury-free this spring, and would definitely miss Baez, 25.
