ATLANTA – Javy Baez was back in action for the Cubs in Thursday’s series finale against the Braves, playing shortstop and batting fifth after missing the last three games with left hamstring tightness.
Baez had started to find a groove at the plate before injuring the hamstring, hitting .300 with three home runs in his previous seven games. The Cubs have scuffled the past two games and haven’t been able to generate much offense, having Baez’s back in the lineup should be a welcomed addition in manager David Ross’ lineup.
“I’ve been really bored,” Baez said with a chuckle.
