With a 74 wRC+ on the season, Heyward is in the midst of what would be the worst offensive season of his career. Fans’ frustration can be heard with the smattering of boos after a weak groundout or the complaining seen on social media when he fails to come through in a big situation. There are moments when Heyward isn’t thrilled with the results either.
“I’d say the hardest part is at-bats like the first one Wednesday night,” Heyward said recently about a line drive to left field that was caught.
