Another way-too-early look at the Cubs’ Opening Day roster

Al Yellon created Bleed Cubbie Blue and has been its managing editor since 2005. His latest book about the Cubs is "Chicago Cubs Firsts." Find him on Bluesky at @bleedcubbieblue.bsky.social

One week today, the Cubs — or, more correctly, a bunch of guys wearing Cubs uniforms — will take the field at Camelback Ranch to face the Dodgers. Most likely, even if there are a handful of everyday Cubs regulars in the lineup, by the fifth inning they’ll be replaced by guys who will probably spend 2025 in Double-A.

Since I last did this a few weeks ago, the Cubs have added some players to the roster, guys who almost certainly will be on the team’s 26-man roster.
