Max Scherzer came out of the gate with nasty stuff and Shawn Kelley wrapped things up out of the pen, largely silencing the Cubs’ bats as they fell to the Washington Nationals 4-1 on Monday.
Describe the game in three words: The Good Max
Max missing bats: The first time the Cubs faced Scherzer this season they made the former Cy Young winner look pedestrian. The North Siders jumped Scherzer for seven runs on seven hits, including four home runs, in five innings of work. He had given up a lead-leaguing 16 home runs entering play on Monday and over the last calendar year he’s given up an MLB-worst 37 homers.
