Almora exits after 3-for-3 day at plate

CHICAGO -- Cubs center fielder Albert Almora Jr. was removed in the fifth inning of Saturday's game at Wrigley Field after grabbing his right quadriceps while running to first base on his go-ahead RBI single.

Almora originally stayed in the game after being evaluated by athletic trainer PJ Mainville at first base, but he was lifted upon reaching second base on Jason Heyward's single. Pitcher Mike Montgomery pinch-ran for Almora, who was 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the game. He hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and tipped his cap to Twins center fielder Jake Cave, who made a diving catch.
