Jesse Rogers of ESPN reported on Monday night that the Cubs have traded Alexander Canario to the New York Mets. In return for the former top prospect, Chicago received cash considerations.
The Cubs have traded OF Alexander Canario to the Mets for cash considerations, sources tell ESPN. Canario, 24, was DFA’d by the Cubs last week.

Canario was designated for assignment on Friday in a move that corresponded with the addition of Justin Turner. Due to being out of options, it was the major league roster or bust for the right-handed outfielder.
