Joe Maddon announced Thursday afternoon that Addison Russell will not be available for the National League Championship Series. The Cubs will stick with Starlin Castro at second base and Javier Baez will start at shortstop.
According to multiple reports, Russell has a “mild/moderate left hamstring strain.” The Cubs are hoping Russell would be available if the Cubs advance past the NLCS.
Joe Maddon is not sure which player will replace Addison Russell on the active roster.
Addison Russell left Game 3 of the NLDS in the fourth inning after he hurt his left hamstring stretching a double into a triple with two outs in the inning.
