The Cubs finally called off their scheduled 1:20 p.m. game against the Pirates at 11:15 a.m, after first pushing back the starting time by an hour to 2:20. That happened at 9:45 a.m. The team obviously hoped they could get the field in playing shape, but weren’t able to. It didn’t stop snowing on the North Side of Chicago in the area around the ballpark until close to 2 p.m., so even though the field eventually got cleared of snow:
