A Shutout, A Slim Lead, and a Wild Weekend

Just when it felt like the Cubs weren’t going to win another game down the stretch, we get a pleasant surprise when the division lead is just about at its absolute slimmest. That’s right, with their (MLB-leading??) 16th shutout of the year, the Cubs get that division lead back up to 2 games, and ensure that they’ll get through this series with a lead at least. It’s kind of hard to say what is going to happen from here, but with the clock winding down on the regular season, as many Ws as possible would be welcomed.

Good Q Comes Out To Play

Facing the team hot on your trail for the division lead, with the lead at 1 game, in mid-September sounds exactly like the sort of game that would cause the Cubs’ rotation to cough up 10 before the first inning was out.
