A midsummer night’s daydream

Apologies to Bill Shakespeare but it is almost midsummer, and it is basically mid-season, so I doubteth that I shall be sued over it. Anyway, today seemed like a good day to spill some comments in this place.

This is not the Anthony Rizzo we’ve come to know and love, but it could be worse. See Davis, Chris. So what is wrong with Rizzo? For one thing, the shift seems to hurt him more than most hitters. Plus, he’s had a lot of emotional happenings in his life in the last year – his engagement, and the shooting at his old high school – and that’s a lot to deal with, sure, but life, not just sports, is full of having to adapt to whatever happens and he needs to make adjustments.
