Al Yellon created Bleed Cubbie Blue and has been its managing editor since 2005. He's also written three books about the Cubs, the latest is "Chicago Cubs Firsts."
The Cubs won 100 games and the NL pennant in 1935. It was their third pennant in seven seasons. No Cubs fan back then would have guessed it would take 81 years for the Cubs to win 100 games again.
Anyway.
The Cubs did contend for most of 1936 and were in first place by three games, at 57-33, after winning the second game of a doubleheader against the Phillies.
