The Cubs won 116 games in 1906. That’s an all-time MLB record that has been matched only once, by the 2001 Mariners, and they had eight more games to do it.
They started 6-6, then won 10 straight to take over first place and did not look back, eventually winning the NL pennant by 20 games. They scored 704 runs and allowed 381. The +323 run differential is the franchise record and fourth-best in the Modern Era (1902 Pirates, 1936 Yankees and 2022 Dodgers were all +334).
