The first thing I’m going to say is that you’re probably not going to like what you read here. Nevertheless, I ask you to at least read and consider.
Before I get started, I think MLB has really missed an outstanding opportunity surrounding the trade deadline. The CBA signed in 2022 gives the Commissioner the right to establish the deadline on any date between July 28 and Aug. 3. So why not pick whatever Monday falls within that span, make it an off day for all teams and create a Trade Deadline Day? Everyone could follow along all day, MLB Network could do a televised extravaganza, and no one would need to worry about games that day.
