Kyle Tucker came to the Cubs in return for Isaac Paredes, who is a good player but didn’t fit or hit in his time with the team, potential-unrealized reliever Hayden Wesneski, and former first-round pick Cam Smith, who had been making some noise in the Cubs system.
It’s a high price, but Tucker could be worth it, even for just one season, which is a possibility. It’s hard to see the Cubs committing to another long deal with the possible lockout in two years, at least while Jed Hoyer is President of Baseball Operations.
But maybe.
