The transitive property doesn’t provide much value as part of analysis in baseball. That said, there isn’t a timing issue here. At least not much of one. You can quibble about where the three teams were in their respective rotations. But, the A’s came to Chicago and lost two of three to the White Sox and won two of three from the Cubs. That’s the way the ball bounces sometimes. Still, it’s not a great look.
Doesn’t mean anything? Well, it just tells us what we probably knew a few days earlier after losing two of three to one of the worst teams in baseball in Colorado.
