The Cubs came back home and the offense got into gear quickly. Putting together a team isn’t some literal chemistry equation or evenly a math equation. But it’s hard not to think the team needs another catalyst or two. The last half of this year has seen an explosive offense, except when the offense is missing in action. The results have been extremely stratifying. They either pour it on or get shut down.
The years long struggle with runners in scoring position, particularly with less than two outs, hasn’t felt like the real problem this year. When this team loses, it has largely been that there is no traffic at all.
