What a wild ride that one was! The Cubs jumped on Pirates rookie sensation Paul Skenes and scored three runs over the first two innings. Maybe, at long last, a sweep was finally a possibility. Unfortunately the bad version of Kyle Hendricks showed up. The homer in the first was “Whatever.” But then he went back out in the second and got shelled. When all was said and done, he had faced 16 batters and allowed eight hits, three walks and six runs.
Not for the first time this year, we are faced with the possibility that Kyle can no longer effectively retire major league hitters.
